Raising Chickens/Christmas Shopping
Well, I've already spilled my guts about my farm girl inclinations...in case you've forgotten I've had visions of chickens and chicken coops dancing in my head...however I've not convinced myself that its realistic or legal where I live, so...the other day I was watching TV and I saw a commercial for Samaritan's Purse and realized I could give baby chicks to needy people around the world...a great idea in my opinion so if you've got people on your list who have everything, give a gift (you can also give, livestock, beekeeping kits, stock a fish pond, ect.) that keeps on giving...www.samaritanspurse.org...

Made from Scratch
My third attempt at blogging, I went to the library a couple of nights ago hoping to get a copy of Julie and Julia, no luck but instead I came across Made from Scratch (by Jenna Wolgenrich), I think this book caught my eye because the cover was done in a scrapbooking style with tags, stitching ect...the book is based off the authors adventures in learning and living life on the farm, she shares her interest and attempts at gardening, raising chicken and rabbits, beekeeping, working dogs and knitting, antiquing for necessaties and making her own clothes...for me this resulted in a subscription to Farm Girl and Hobby Farm magazines, I also subscribe to Budget Travel, Birds and Blooms, and Tea Time, (in case Katie Couric wants to know what I read!). Today at work I was researching chicken coop plans on-line, I guess you could say I connected with this book! It is not the first time the thought of farming (or sustainable living as the author calls it) has crossed my thoughts, I had already invisioned Sunset as a sheep or herb farm...now those juices are flowing like crazy, I had never considered raising chickens but I do eat alot of eggs and they do seem pretty easy to raise so....
